You find yourself in the southern-most region of Austria - in the heart of Carinthia, where the sun shines the longest - to be exact, for 2,100 hours every year! To the north, the region is bordered by the main ridge of the Alps and the Salzburg region, and borders East Tyrol to the west, Styria to the east and Slovenia and Italy to the south. Carinthia´s climate has been shaped by Mediterranean influences: here - exactly half-way between Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, and Vienna, the lagoon city - the summer heat of the south meets with green meadows and Alpine forests.

The Villach holiday region located in the heart of central Europe offers a variety of holiday attractions. The Faaker See and the Ossiacher See, crystal-clear Alpine lakes, are close by. The Dobratsch and Gerlitzen Alps are Villach's backyard Alps, and are a favourite destination of visitors seeking sport and recreation in summer and winter alike. To the south of the town, the famed spa of Warmbad-Villach dates back to Roman days as a popular centre for spa treatments, health and fitness.
