Sustainable meetings in the Congress Center Villach – we are authorized to certify your meetings with the Austrian Eco-label for “Green Meeting and Events”.

SUSTAINABLE MEETINGS

IN THE CONGRESS CENTER VILLACH

In July 2013, the Congress Center Villach was awarded the Austrian Eco-label giving us the competence to organize and certify “Green Meetings/Green Events” for our customers. The comprehensive list of guidelines involved is unique in Europe and considered a quality certification mark for the ecologically aware organization of meetings.

The Austrian Eco-label is an initiative of the Austria Convention Bureau in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and the Consumer Information Association.

WHAT ARE THE KEY ISSUES?

CERTIFICATION CRITERIA

An event that wishes to be organized as Green Meeting has to meet all requirements set out by the “UZ 62” Guideline. They are considered satisfied if the requested MANDATORY criteria in the following areas are met:

  • Mobility and compensation
  • Accommodation
  • Event venue
  • Event catering and gastronomy
  • Communication and social aspects


Further it is necessary to reach a minimum number of points by choosing a set of additional optional criteria. If the requested mandatory criteria are met and the minimum number of points required for the relevant meeting/event has been reached, the event is certified as Green Meeting/Green Event.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

  1. Check if your meeting is suitable for certification
  2. From this point onward the meeting can be promoted with the following wording: "We strive to organize this meeting according to the criteria of the Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings and Green Events."
  3. The event has to be planned and organized according to the Green Meetings and Green Events guidelines. All relevant data and verifications have to be uploaded in the Green Meetings database by the licensee.
  4. As soon as all necessary entries and evidences are fulfilled, the event will be certified and can be promoted with the following wording: "This meeting complies with the criteria of the Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings and Green Events.”
